Training courses and orientation seminars on the WESM are conducted for the benefit of electric power industry participants, prospects, and interested parties. Training schedules may be viewed at the bottom part of this page.
TRAININGS OFFERED:
A. WESM Overview (Click to download outline)
WESM Overview is a two-hour seminar with an audio-visual presentation and an open forum. This seminar is free of charge but is conducted on a per request basis.
B. Basic WESM Training (Click to download outline)
The Basic WESM Training Course is a two-day course which introduces the participant to the basic concepts of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) in order to prepare them for participation in the WESM. The training is provided by the IEMOP Knowledge Management Section. This course will equip the participants with the basic principles governing the WESM operations. This includes discussions on the provisions of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) pertaining to the Philippine electricity market, the governance and the role of WESM in the power industry as well as its basic operations. This is composed of modules on Introduction to WESM, Scheduling and Pricing, Trading Operations, Billing and Settlements. It also covers a hands-on training on the Market Participant´s Interface (MPI), the interface that links the WESM members to the trading operations in the WESM and the Central Registration and Settlement System (CRSS).
C. Retail Market Training (Click to download outline)
The Retail Competition and Open Access Training Course is a two-day course which will provide the trainees with an introduction on the basic principles governing the operations in the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) regime in the Philippines. This training will include discussions on the provisions of relevant laws pertaining to the implementation of RCOA, the processes involved in the integration of retail market operations in the WESM and an introduction to the Central Registration and Settlement System that shall handle transactions between and among market participants.

The Advanced WESM Training courses will equip the participants with the advanced knowledge on the operations of the WESM in greater detail. These courses are aimed at providing a deeper understanding of the background, concepts and scope of the Trading Operations, Scheduling and Pricing and Billing and Settlements in the WESM by employing in-depth discussions, problem solving/simulations using real market data and case studies, if applicable.
